Washing Stride Rite shoes?
My son threw up at school today and soaked his clothes and shoes. The teachers took them off immediately but the damage was done, and now they really stink like vomit.
The shoes are Stride Rite SRTech sneakers that are made with some leather. I checked the SR website and even called the company, but they recommend spot cleaning only. Has anyone had success with throwing this type into the washing machine? I will stuff them with newspaper and air dry after, but have concerns about running them through a cycle. They are so expensive I would hate to ruin them. Thanks in advance for your help!

Aww poor kiddo!! We have the exact same shoes for my June 2016 baby! However, my April 2014 baby threw up over the weekend because he didn't chew his blueberries up correctly and a piece of skin got stuck. Anyway, we have light up Jedi green and blue Strite Ride. They were covered. I didn't even think about it. I threw them in the wash with hot water and Tide Pod and I even threw them in the dryer. They work fine. Smell great. And it didn't ruin those. However, I know which ones you are referring to and they're all leather. I would say, if you're really concerned about ruining the leather, see if you can't take them somewhere to properly spot clean. If you don't want to do that, then you can spot clean them yourself but that vomit smell will most likely still be there. So if it were me I would run them through the wash and in the dryer on low heat for a little bit and then air dry. If you spot clean yourself then you'll end up buying new ones because of the smell. But if you try and wash them and you ruin them you'll end up buying new ones anyway. Best thing is to try and wash these and see what happens. But I highly doubt you'll ruin them. My June 2016 baby has the same ones and we've gotten them wet this winter and I've put them in the dryer to dry out and they're still holding up.
Thanks for the advice! I ended up putting them through a wash inside a garment bag with other clothes and they seem to have survived! I'm air drying them now- we are heading to Disney tomorrow and of course they are his only pair of sneakers that fit right now! Had to order the extra wide for his Flintstone feet and his old ones are too small now. Guess I should order a back up! Thank you again!

@Katniss425,
you're welcome! Have fun at Disney! We went in August and my June 2016 baby had a blast! Safe travels!! Glad everything worked out!
